5 things happening on the Saanich Peninsula that you should know about

Summer has arrived and the temperatures are heating up. From travelling back in time to writing about Canada, here are 5 things to do on the Saanich Peninsula.

The Sidney Museum has a new Exhibit called “A Walk Through Time”

It started on July 1st and runs through August 30th. Travel back in time with Sidney Museum in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday! Explore the history and see how people lived throughout the past 150 years.

Panorama Rec Centre has “Play in the Park

A free event running every weekday evening from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m at various parks.

  • Mondays – Tulista Park, 9565 5th Street
  • Tuesdays – Centennial Park, 7400 Block of Wallace Drive
  • Wednesdays – Rathdown Park, 2170 Calvin Ave
  • Thursdays – Pioneer Park, 7130 West Saanich Road
  • Fridays – KELSET Elementary, 1800 Forest Park Drive

Brentwood Bay Music in the Park

Every Wednesday, starting July 5th – at Pioneer Park in Brentwood Bay. Details and band schedule here.

Summer Sounds

Every Sunday 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Beacon Park, Sidney.  A list of the bands is available online.

Sidney and Peninsula Literary Society Writing Contest

The Sidney and Peninsula Literary Society is sponsoring a Writing Contest for adults in conjunction with the 2017 Literary Festival. The contest opened on July 1st. Submissions should be up to 150 words about Canada, in the any form the writer chooses – fiction, poetry, narrative, or any other form. Deadline for entries is August 15th, 2017. Prizes of $150 for First Place and $50 for Second Place will be awarded at the Literary Festival. Submit your entry to “sidneyliteraryfestival@gmail.com” with “Writing Contest” in the subject line
