Christmas Hill Park to be renamed after Councillor Vic Derman

Share

Saanich Council have announced a plan to honour Councillor Vic Derman’s legacy. In July, they’ll officially change the name of Christmas Hill Park to Vic Derman Park.

Councillor Derman passed away in March at age 72. First elected to Saanich council in 2002, he later became a CRD director in 2005.

Saanich Council described Derman’s commitment to sustainability as the driving force behind the selection of Christmas Hill Park as the place for him to be memorialized.

The North Quadra Community Association put forth the proposal to dedicate Christmas Hill Park to honour Vic Derman as a recognition of all the work he contributed to the surrounding community.

The name change and a park dedication ceremony will take place in July.
