Seven ducklings that fell into a storm drain in Oak bay were safely rescued Friday morning thanks to the effort of the Oak Bay fire department.
At around 6:20 a.m., Dr. Daisy Dulay was walking to work when an older woman grabbed her attention.
She pointed out that ducklings had fallen into the storm drain as their mother and one duckling unhappily lingered around a storm drain near Cadboro Bay and Bee Street.
They could see the ducklings in the water below but could not pry open the drain.
Oak Bay Fire were called and acting assistant chief Duane Adsett responded to the call.

The ducks were pulled out of the drain one by one where they wandered off into the grass to be reunited with their mother.
Sadly, one of the ducklings died during the rescue.
