Kick-start the summer by helping out this National Volunteer Week

Share

This week, we’re here to tell you about a way that you can get outside and take advantage of this beautiful weather, all while meeting new people and giving back to the community!

“National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate Canadian volunteers and thank them for the selfless work they do to help those around them. As we mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, we honour the essential contributions volunteers make to our country, this week and throughout the year,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a statement on April 23rd.

So this week, from April 23rd to the 29th is National Volunteer Week, and our city’s host this year Volunteer Victoria – a valuable leader of the island’s non-profit community.

They’ve got a full itinerary of places for you and your friends and family to go help out at!

Some of the participating organizations include HeartPress PR, Canadian Red Cross, Victoria Brain Injury Society and many others.

Not only will there be opportunities to actively volunteer with some of these groups, but they are also providing the public with engaging tours and information sessions.
