Saanich police are appealing to the public for help in locating the truck and driver involved in a hit-and-run on Willis Point Road, which left a 14-year-old cyclist injured.

Just after 4 pm on Friday, April 21, Megan Barnes, a competitive cyclist, was riding her bike with a friend when a pickup truck hit her from behind.

Barnes was taken to the Victoria General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

A witness told police that there might have been a brief interaction between the driver and the cyclist before the collision.

The vehicle is described as a charcoal grey Dodge Dakota pickup truck, with wooden sides. The driver is described as a blond heavier-set female of average height.

Police say the pickup truck took off right after the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
