Police officers will camp out at Uptown Shopping Center this weekend

Starting today, officers will pitch their tents, roll out their sleeping bags and camp out on scaffolding to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics.

For three days, law enforcement will camp out at Uptown, while other local law enforcement members collect donations below to ‘free the fuzz’.

The event will kick off today – Friday, April 28 – with Special Olympics athletes and law enforcement members marching together into the shopping centre shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The event will also include fun activities for the whole family including raffles, dunk tank, kids’ art classes, hotdogs and beverages by donation, live music, and K9 and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team demonstrations.

  • Where: Uptown Shopping Centre
  • Torch Run: Sunday, April 30 at 9AM Beginning at Uptown

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an innovative initiative powered by dedicated law enforcement members around the world who want to help Special Olympics athletes experience acceptance, achievement, and admiration through sport.

This the Torch Run will begin at Uptown at 9AM and head onto the Galloping Goose for a 5km run  returning to Uptown.
