Community lends support to 3-year-old diagnosed with rare brain tumour

Share

Last Wednesday, a local family received some earth-shattering news, and they need our help.

The family’s 3-year-old son/nephew/oldest grandchild was just diagnosed with malignant glioma diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma – the medical term for a rare, incurable brain tumour.

What’s devastating is that the average life-expectancy of a child diagnosed with this tumour is 9-12 months, with treatment.

Liam’s parents will stay with him for six weeks at the B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. They also need to take care of his baby brother, Brody, who is only 5 months old.

To try to help them out, Liam’s aunt, Lindsay Walper has set up a Gofundme account, and the response has been tremendous.

“Please consider supporting my sister. There is no amount too small,” writes Lindsay.

You can click here to donate, or share the page to help Liam’s family get through this difficult time.

Also, family and friends will be hosting an afternoon High Tea fundraiser on Sunday, June 4 in North Saanich. There will be a silent auction, door prizes and more.
