Meat & Bread in Victoria has closed after about two years

Share

The Meat & Bread at 721 Yates St. in downtown Victoria has shut its doors after about a two-year run.

The first Meat & Bread shop opened in 2010 in the historic Gastown neighborhood in Vancouver then expanded with another location in Vancouver and Victoria.

There was a lot of hype when the high-quality sandwich shop first opened up on Yates Street, but as time progressed the appeal faded.

Some say it was due to a lack of menu choice when comparing it to local competition, such as the sandwiches at Fol Epi or Roast in the Hudson Market.

Meat & Bread confirmed with Victoria Buzz that they did close the Yates Street location permanently on Friday. The two other places in Vancouver are not affected by the closing.

“Our Yates ST shop is permanently closed. Victoria is such a beautiful city; we would have loved for things to have worked out differently.  All the best!
