Police bust chop shop in Saanich, recover $50,000 worth of stolen property

Saanich Police have recovered more than $50,000 worth of stolen property after busting a “bicycle chop shop” at a property in the 400-block of Dupplin Road.

Sannich police began their invesitagation into the “chop-shop” in October and with the assistant of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on November 7.

A search of the property located a massive quantity of bicycles, scooters, bike parts and accessories, valued at over $50,000, according to police.

Two men, 49 and 51, were arrestested without incident. The are both facing charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and they will appear in court in late December 2016.

“We haven’t been able to locate the owners of a number of bicycles and bicycle parts” said A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie.

Photos of the recovered bicycles have been posted to the Sannich Police Facebook page.

Anyone who identifies one of the stolen bikes or parts as theirs is asked to call Saanich police at 1-888-980-1919.
