FRIDAY August 5

Beach Food Fridays

  • What: Enjoy the day at the beach. Grab a bite from one of the local food trucks Greek on the Street and Grilled to the Mac from 11:00am-7:00pm, The Crispy Fish from 11:00am-3:00pm and L’Authentique Poutine & Burgers from 3:00-7:00pm.
  • Where: Esquimalt Lagoon, Ocean Boulevard

RioReday Olympic and Paralympic Fan Zone

  • What: Celebrate and support our local Canadian Athletes. CBC Canada’s coverage of the the games begins with a half-hour pre-show at 3:30pm, followed by opening ceremonies begin at 4:00pm. Bring the family, meet Vancouver Island athletes and be inspired.
  • Where: Westin Bear Mountain, 1999 Country Club Way

Victoria HarbourCats

What: vs. Yakima Valley Pippins. Jerseys Off Our Backs with Odium Brown. Game begins at 6:35pm

Free-B Film Festival: Space Jam

  • What: FREE outdoor screening. Looney Tunes all time favourite, starring Michael Jordan. Bring a chair, blanket, flashlight and snacks. Movies begins at 9:00pm (88mins).

SATURDAY August 6

Victoria HarbourCats

What: vs. Yakima Valley Pippins. Fan Appreciation Fireworks Show with Wallace Driving and KissFM. Game begins at 6:35pm. Tickets $15.
Where: Royal Athletic Park

Victoria Buzz has obtained 200 tickets for the game. A portion of the sale of these tickets will benefit Bryan Oakley and family.   • Where: Esquimalt Lagoon, Ocean Boulevard

Touch a Truck

  • What: A fun opportunity for children to explore these trucks from construction machinery, emergency vehicles, big rigs, tow trucks and more. Speedway race cars, go carts and helicopters will be on display. Take the kids around the mini bike course, bouncy house, face painting and more. Event from 9:30am-2:00pm
  • Where: Western Speedway

Seawings Express Fan Appreciation Night

  • What: Stock cars, mini stocks, dwarf cars, Old Timer’s Racing Association, bombers, claimers and hornets will battle it out for a night of Trophie Dashes and main events. Grandstands open at 4:00pm. FREE admission, compliments of Seawings Express.
  • Where: Western Speedway

Arts and Music in the Gardens

  • What: Set with the backdrop of nine acres of gardens to explore featuring 3 music stages and over 50 creative,local artists. Fundraiser to maintain ongoing work in the gardens. Event from 11:00am-4:00pm.
  • Where: Horticulture Centre of the Pacific

ADMISSION: $12/adults, $9/seniors, under 16 years FREE

Oak Bay Arts & Culture Week Kickoff

  • What: Celebrating Oak Bay as a premier cultural destination. Local artist, Helen Stewart will be at Side Street Studio from 1:30-3:30pm signing her latest book. Performances by the Lekwungen Traditional Dancers of the Songhees Nation, and artists painting outdoors along Oak Bay Avenue. Event from 1:00-5:00pm.
  • Where: Oak Bay Municipal Hall Lawn, 2167 Oak Bay Avenue and Oak Bay Village

The Schoolhouse Market

  • What: Vendors including driftwood art, jewellery, knitwear, apparel and more. The Snow Sisters from Enchanted Fables Princess Parties will be in attendance from 12:30-2:30pm for sing-along, dancing, group games and story telling. Prize giveaways, music, FREE admission. Market open from 10:30am-2:30pm.

Free-B Film Festival: Galaxy Quest

Cadboro Bay Festival

  • What: An afternoon of family fun. Bouncy castles, face painting, interactive games, craft stations, kids treasure maps and so much more. Event from 11:00-3:00pm.

Gorge Swim Fest

  • What: FREE fun for the family with live entertainment, novelty races, swim costume contest, give-aways and more. Deadbeetz Food Truck on site. Event from 12:00-4:00pm.
  • Where: Esquimalt Gorge Park
    • Curtis Point at Gorge Park: Quiet location for those wanting to jump in and go for a peaceful swim. Volunteers available of information.
    • Banfield Park: Family activities, live music on site. and food for purchase. Display showcasing the beauty, history and value of this waterway.
    • Esquimalt Gorge Park: Esquimalt Arts Festival on site, enjoy the art, music and culture of the community. Bring a picnic or enjoy some food from the food trucks.
