FRIDAY July 29

A Band and a Ballerina

  • What: Victoria’s own ballet dancer and Gemini winner Sarah Murphy-Dyson has teamed up with musician, singer and songwriter Evan Freeman for this electric multi-disciplinary collaboration. Free show. Performance at 5:30pm and 7:30pm
  • Where: Centennial Square

Beach Food Fridays

  • What: Enjoy the day at the beach. Grab a bite from one of the local food trucks Pepperman’s Grill, Jackson’s Ice Cream and Wannawafel. Trucks on site from 11:00am-7:00pm.
  • Where: Esquimalt Lagoon, Ocean Boulevard

BC Long Weekend Market

  • What: Local artists, musicians, food trucks and buskers will be taking part in one of the busiest weekends of the summer. Explore the market from 6:00-10:30pm.
  • Where: Inner Harbour

Bites, Brews and Bands on the Barge

  • What: Head to Ogden Point for Victoria’s Finest Food Trucks, alongside fabulous local beer from Phillips, Hoyne, Driftwood as well as local cider from Sea Cider, and take in great local music on the Breakwater Barge. A perfect way to start the weekend! Jessica Benini Collective will be performing at 6:30pm, event from 3:00-9:00pm.

Victoria Shamrocks – Wilson’s Transportation Family Night

  • What: Victoria Shamrocks vs. Burnaby Lakers! At 5:30pm there will be free activities, construct your own Wilson’s buses, face painting and Shamrocks tattoos. Judy’s Snack Shack will be on site for food and snacks. First 200 families through the gate after 6:30pm will receive a Family Fun Travel Pack. Game begins 7:45pm.

SATURDAY July 30

Beach Food Saturdays

  • What: Enjoy the day at the beach. Grab a bite from one of the local food trucks Pepperman’s Grill and Grilled to the Mac. Trucks on site from 11:00am-7:00pm.
  • Where: Esquimalt Lagoon, Ocean Boulevard

BC Long Weekend Market

  • What: Expect to see over 120 local artists, musicians, street performers, food trucks, food carts and buskers fill the Harbour during one of the busiest markets of the summer. First nations carvers and artists will be located at the south end of the causeway. Explore the market from 10:30am-10:30pm.
  • Where: Inner Harbour

Pop-up Saturdays

  • What: Featuring local talent from up-and-coming performers as well as seasoned performers. Elli Hart & Friends will be performing from 3:00-5:00pm.
  • Where: Market Square

Westshore Rebels vs V.I. Raiders – Family Day

  • What: Afternoon of family fun with special guests Superheroes of Victoria. Interactive Rebels corner, inflatables and more activities for the family to enjoy. Gates open at 6:00pm, kick-off at 7:00pm.
  • Where: Westhills Stadium

Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival

  • What: 26th season of the Shakespeare Festival, performed outdoors on the grounds of the college. Twelfth Night will be performed at 1:30pm and The Winter’s Tale at 7:30pm. Dine-in food services available. Performance begins at 7:30pm. Tickets $24/adult, $19/seniors and students, children under 12 FREE.

Concerts in the Park

  • What: Take a stroll through the park, then take a break to enjoy Dave Lang & The Insolent Rabble perform from 1:30-3:20pm. Bring a chair or blanket.

SUNDAY July 31

Victoria Symphony Splash

  • What: As the sun sets, view the spectacular fireworks display along the Harbour. From a floating stage, Maestra Tania Miller, the orchestra and special guests will perform, ending with a grande finale performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. It will be a very busy weekend so make sure to arrive early to secure yourself the perfect spot to view the fireworks. Bring a blanket or jacket as it can be chilly off the water in the evening.

Folk Show Sundays

  • What: An evening of music, drinks, prizes and good times. Featuring Ghostly Hounds from Montreal, the most foot stompin’ WestCoast folk music show you will experience. Show from 6:00-10:00pm. Tickets $10/at the door.

Monday August 1

BC Long Weekend Market

  • What: Local artists, musicians, food trucks and buskers will be taking part in one of the busiest weekends of the summer. Explore the market from 10:30am-5:00pm.
  • Where: Inner Harbour

Victoria Flamenco Festival 

  • What: Pasion Flamenca is a talented group of dancers, singers and a guitarist, and they will perform a fun fiesta piece. Performance from 12:00-1:00pm.
  • Where: Centennial Square

FREE Community Workshops at 4Cats Art Studio

  • What: In celebration of BC Day, there will be FREE workshops taking place beginning at 12:00pm. Make sure to register and spend quality time with your family creating a pod of orcas.
  • Where: Uptown Shopping Centre, 3450 Uptown Blvd

BC Day Concert in the Park

  • What: Cookeilidh, a band comprised of 12-string guitar, electric bass, Irish flute, fiddle, bodhran and vocals weave their own special blend of “Trad with Attitude”. Band will perform from 12:00-1:00pm.

Russell Books 25th Birthday

  • What: Celebrating 25 years in Victoria. Enjoy music, fun trivia, games and cake. A bibliotherapist will be available for book recommendations. Event from 11:00am-5:00pm.

Summer Festival at Butchart Gardens

  • What: Ballet Etoile will be performing modern and classical ballet, lyrical and humorous. This will be an outdoor concert, so bring a chair or blanket to sit on. All summer evening events free with admission. Performance from 8:00-9:30pm.

Learn to Stand Up Paddle (SUP)

  • What: A three hour introductory course that will teach you the difference and styles of boards, paddles and equipment. By the end of course you will be able to paddle board in a straight line, stop and do several strokes to maneuver sideways and around obstacles. Course from 10:00am-1:00pm. Ages 16 years +. $85/person includes gear.

Victoria Harbour Kayak Instructional Tour

  • What: Suitable for family. $75/person (1/2 price for children under 12 years). Tour from 2:00-5:00pm.

Movie Monday: The Delicate Art of Parking

  • What: In this “mockumentary”, a wannabe documentary filmmaker who has had his car towed for the umpteenth time, sets out to film a scathing exposé of the corrupt institution of parking enforcement. Enforcement officer played by Fred Ewanuick (better know as Hank from Corner Gas). Take at seat at 6:15pm, movie begins at 6:30pm.
