For the fourth year, the world-renowned pop-up picnic, Dîner en Blanc is taking place in Victoria, on Thursday, June 23rd. Speculation is swirling about the secret location, with event-goers shopping around the city for tables, chairs and the perfect white outfit! More than 1,500 people attended the 2015 event at Ship’s Point. The event has also been held at St. Ann’s Academy and Fisherman’s Wharf.
Dîner en Blanc has become a much-anticipated annual celebration that attracts foodies, fashion and cultural enthusiasts for an evening of dining, dancing and musical entertainment.
Dîner en Blanc is inspired by the elegance and glamour of high French society. Guests partake in fine food and wine, and conversation amid a magical setting. There is no car traffic, no pedestrian traffic and no disruptions.
Guests of the 2016 Dîner en Blanc event will arrive by bus and pedestrian routes in downtown Victoria at approximately 5:30p.m., creating a high-energy parade of white as they make their way through the city.
An eclectic mix of musical acts will entertain guests throughout the evening and at an after party, which is also held at a secret venue.
Dan Hayes, The London Chef is once again providing three catered food options for picnickers who would prefer a chef-prepared meal. The Marseille, an artisan salad, marinated buffalo mozzarella sandwich and assiette of French biscuits; the Cannes, a salad of toasted olive oil bread, tomatoes and bocconcini, seared albacore tuna and a crème brûlée tart; or the St. Tropez, a king prawn cocktail, seared Alberta tenderloin and meringue au chocolat.
