Share

A family of four in Brentwood Bay lost their home to an early morning massive fire. Emergency crews were called to the home in Central Saanich, around 3:40 am Tuesday morning.

The fire was first reported when it was spotted on the outside deck. The single family home on Kristin Place was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.

“We just had to go defensive from there and try and contain it to the one house,” said deputy fire chief Rob Nelson.

Everyone including the pets in the house got out safely. The cause is being investigated.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Central Saanich Police at 250-652-4441.

Tom Chaschowy was out filming a time lapse video in Mill Bay Tuesday morning, when he suddenly captured the home in Brentwood Bay burst into flames.

“As I was about to pack it in I noticed a fire across the water in West Saanich. The fire can be seen in the last few seconds of the video just as the Battery died on camera.”
