There are plenty of skating events happening this month to get you in the holiday spirit, so check out the list below, lace up your skates and have tons of family fun!
VICTORIA
Skate with Santa at SOFMC
- What: Lace up your skates and enjoy an afternoon skate with Santa. $11.45/family (2 adults, 3 kids), $5.65/adult, $2.95/child, under 5 FREE.
- When: Sunday December 20 from 2:45-4:15pm
- Where: Save On Foods Memorial Centre, 1925 Blanshard Street
Christmas Break Twoonie Skate
- What: Need an activity for the children while they are out of school for the holidays. Take them for an afternoon skate. Only $2/person
- When: Tuesday December 22 and Tuesday December 29 from 1:30-3:00pm
- Where: Save On Foods Memorial Centre, 1925 Blanshard Street
A Day With Santa
- What: A FREE full day of family holiday activities. Enjoy a movie at Silver City at 10:00am, followed by skating and/or kindergym with Santa from 12:00-1:20pm. Then head over to Tillicum Center from 1:30-2:30 and finish your day with Christmas crafts.
- When: Sunday December 13 from 10:00am-2:30pm

OAKBAY
Skate with Santa
- What: Santa will be skating and playing games on the ice, such as “pass the parcel”, and handing out prizes! There will be a craft station set up and many door prizes!
- When: Sunday December 20 from 12:00-2:45pm

Christmas Skate at Oak Bay Recreation
- What: Looking for something to do on Christmas day, why not go for a skate – FREE admission with a non-perishable food item or donation for the food bank.
- When: Friday December 25 from 1:00-3:30pm

ESQUIMALT
Lions Skate with Santa
- What: Join Santa on the ice for skating, games and fun. $2 + non-perishable food item provides skate admission as well as hot dog and hot chocolate. Bring your own helmets and skates or for rent $3.25/pair.
- When: Saturday December 12 from 2:30-4:00pm
- Where: Esquimalt Archie Browning Sports Centre, 1151 Esquimalt Road
Hang Out With Santa
- What: Join in for a fun-filled afternoon of decorating, games and photo’s with Santa. FREE event and will include hotdogs, popcorn, candy canes and water. If you don’t want to skate head over to the Naden Athletic Centre Pool for some fun in the water from 2:00-4:00pm. Santa will arrive 12:30pm and 2:30pm.

WESTSHORE & SOOKE
Kool FM Sunday Skate
- What: Santa is taking a break from his busy schedule to join City Centre Park for their annual Skate with Santa. This is a free community event, bring a non-perishable food item to support our local food banks.
- When: Sunday December 6 from 3:00-4:00pm
- Where: City Centre Park, 1089 Langford Parkway
Outdoor Ice Pond
- What: Enjoy some fresh air while skating on this outdoor rink. Public skate time on Sundays from 3:00-4:20pm, the ice river connects the outdoor skate pond and the indoor ice rink. You can enjoy both areas without ever taking your skates off. $3 admission, under 3 years FREE, $3 skate rentals.

Winter Wonderland Skate
- What: Come join in the festive spirit as the arena is transformed into a winter wonderland. There will be holiday music, special treats, and Santa will take some time away from his workshop to join everyone on ice.

- What: Enjoy Christmas Eve skating with family and friends. $2/admission.

New Years Eve Skate
- What: Enjoy New Years Eve skating with family and friends. $2/admission.

Christmas Hockey Camp for Kids
- What: The ICE Christmas Hockey Camps are a perfect way to spend 1 or more days over the break playing hockey for fun. The camps are great for mid-season conditioning and skill improvement through a morning skills class and afternoon scrimmage. Between ice times, kids have a chance to relax in the hockey facility, play sports games and work with the trainers on agility and condition drills in the gym. Fees and more info here.

SOOKE
Skate with Santa
- What: Santa is taking time out of his busy schedule to visit SEAPARC! Skate with Santa and enjoy holiday inspired crafts and refreshments. Admission is by donation of food or cash for the Sooke Food Bank.
- When: Sunday December 20 from 10:30am-12:30pm

Christmas Eve Skate
- What: Enjoy Christmas Eve skating with family and friends. $2/admission.

SAANCH PENINSULA
The Victoria Royals Skate at the Gardens
- What: Enjoy skating? Love the Royals? Well now is your time to meet the team at the Gardens for an afternoon skate. Members of the Victoria Royals will be signing autographs in the Coffee Shop and you can take your photo with them. Admission and ice skating rates here.
When: Sunday December 6 from 3:00-4:30pm - Where: The Butchart Gardens, 800 Benvenuto Avenue
Ice Skating at Butchart Gardens
- What: Skating is available daily during admission hours. Show up and skate at the next available time, or book a time by visiting the Visitor Information Centre upon arrival. Skate times run on the hour and last for 40 minutes. Skate rentals are available on a first come basis for a small fee. Helmets and wrist guards are highly recommended and are available at no charge. Admission and ice skating rates here.

Winter Wonderland Skate at Panorama
- What: Join in for some holiday fun. Enjoy hot chocolate, toboggan run, kid’s games, painting on ice, and a special visit from Santa. Winter Wonderland will be complete with Christmas decor and snowflakes from the snow machine.
- When: Saturday December 19 – Friday January 1 from 11:00am-3:00pm (closed on Christmas Day)
- Where: Panorama Recreation Centre, 1885 Forest Park Drive
CFax Skate
- What: Join Santa Bear, Slider, and their mascot friends for a skate and some birthday cake. FREE admission by donation with proceeds to benefit CFAX Santa’s Anonymous.
- When: Sunday December 19 from 1:00-3:00pm
