Browns Social House will begin construction of its new location at Uptown in October and is anticipating to be opened in the spring of 2016. The spacious 3,000 square foot upscale, casual restaurant will be located at the north end of Uptown Boulevard. The restaurant will also feature a 1,000 square foot patio for year-round outdoor dining.

The local restaurant group behind the newest location of the popular restaurant franchise, is led by Jeremy Wilson, director of AdrenaLine Adventure Tours in Sooke.

“Browns Social House is such a great fit for Uptown. Each location is designed for the neighbourhood it serves and this location will have something for everyone, especially families who don’t currently have many restaurant options in the immediate area,” said Wilson.

“The location is ideal with plenty of parking, great atmosphere and so many stores and services that are a complementary.”

The announcement of the newest restaurant at Uptown comes at a time when leasing interest has been strong. New storefronts and offices are opening on Uptown Boulevard and the upper level, along with phase-three construction for a 40,000 square foot Whole Foods store and a new 4,500 square foot commercial retail space scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Browns Social House. It’s the kind of dining offering our visitors have been asking for and we expect it will be received with great enthusiasm,” said Roberta Ferguson, general manager, Uptown.

“We’ve had a very busy period with leasing opportunities recently and we’re close to finalizing some additional deals which we hope to announce very soon. We’re continuing to focus on providing Greater Victoria with a variety of local and national retailers and services.”

On Uptown Boulevard two new fashion boutiques have opened. Meraki is the latest offering from the former owner of the highly successful Suasion store, Kylee Weber. The trendy shop carries sought-after denim, shoes, bags and clothing lines for women. No. 1016 boutique specializes in unique imported fashions.

Also now open on Uptown Boulevard is local fashion design house, Chai Fashions, furniture and housewares retailer MJ Vogue and Reflex supplements, a Canadian leader in sports nutrition. In Uptown’s Town Plaza, two new eateries have opened, Power House Living Food Co., a juice bar with a raw food menu and Maison Belge offering authentic Belgian waffles and fresh sandwiches made-to-order.

On Uptown’s upper levels, West Coast Medical Imaging has relocated its x-ray clinic next to Rebalance MD’s expanded location. Steve Nash Fitness World has also completed a 5,000 square foot expansion that includes additional fitness space and a child minding service.
